This course is designed to help teachers address the important role linguistics plays when working with ESOL students. Participants will acquire a greater understanding of the structure of English from a modern day linguistic perspective and will analyze the structure of English in contrast with the languages of target populations in a given class. Participants will demonstrate knowledge and skills in the theory and development of creativity to include elements of creativity such as fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.

Additional Fees:

Early Certificate fees allow you to get a certificate once you have hit the midway point of the course.

Fast Track fees allow you to go through the course at your own pace ahead of the pacing guide and be eligible to receive your completion certificate as soon as you finish.

This course is designed to help teachers address the important role linguistics plays when working with ESOL students. Participants will acquire a greater understanding of the structure of English from a modern day linguistic perspective and will analyze the structure of English in contrast with the languages of target populations in a given class. Participants will complete activities which will demonstrate linguistic differences in languages and the ability to overcome linguistic interference's in reading and content area materials.
